Recording
With space to spare in the new Archive building, we constructed
two different recording spaces. The Live room features wood walls
and a high ceiling, and is ideal for roomy drum, vocal, and instrument
sounds. The Dead room is smaller and features extensive broadband
absorption for a tight, dry sound, more suited to close micing and
isolation. Additionally the front lounge can be used as a recording
space, with a more lively small room sound.
With the addition of a rack of microphone preamps to the mastering
room, a full band can be tracked live in the studio. The additional
equipment needed for recording is transparent to the control room's
usual function as mastering studio. This arrangement allows for
very high quality monitoring via the mastering room speaker system.
All rooms are interconnected with mic, line, headphone, and speaker
level wiring allowing for great flexibility in the tracking arrangement.
